About Reality

Reality Winner, a former decorated Air Force veteran, pleaded guilty on 6/26/18 to one count of mishandling classified information in exchange for a sentence of  5 years and 3 months in prison. This is an exceptionally harsh sentence for a first time offense in what amounted to a national public service.

Pen and paper (often pages torn from a book while in jail) are all that's needed to connect and inspire. Through the subject matter and expressive detail,  Reality's art speaks to her character. She is person of passion and desire to make a positive change in the world.

Before her incarceration, Reality was an athlete who spent much of her free time doing yoga and CrossFit. She volunteered with the group Athletes Serving Athletes, a group that sponsors disabled children, as well as helping at a local animal shelter.  Much of her artwork is of family, friends and pets. She has also been inspired by civil rights icons such as Martin Luther King, Jr and Nelson Mandela.
